For some people, romance isn’t limited to just human beings. There are many individuals, who form romantic feelings towards inanimate objects just like regular humans would towards each other. They believe that these items do in fact harbor feelings that are valid as anyone else’s and they are very much capable of returning those strong feelings in return. Here, we take a look at five people and their eyebrow-raising relationships with a wall, a statue, an amusement park ride, a tree and even a pillow. 1. Tied the Knot to Berlin Wall According to Eija Riita, a Swedish native, it was love at first sight when she laid her eyes on the Berlin Wall at the tender age of 7-years-old. She soon proceeded to collect pictures of the infamous wall, and even saved some money to visit it. At this point, Eija’s feelings only deepened and on the sixth visit she and the Berlin Wall made it official in front of a few guests. She even took on the surname Berliner-Mauer which means you guessed it, Berlin Wall. Well the marriage was a short-lived one as the wall was torn down in 1989, devastating Eija. 2. Strong Attraction to Statue of Liberty Although all she does is stand in New York City with a torch in her hand, the Statue of Liberty somehow managed to garner the attention of Amanda Whittaker, a British national who is attracted to different shapes. Lady Liberty just so happens to be her strongest attraction, with Amanda having visited “Libby” as she calls her, a total of five times since 2007. Back in Leeds, England, Amanda honors the statue by collecting and displaying numerous monuments in her home. 3. Hitched to an Amusement Park Ride Eija Riita isn’t the only one who wedded her inanimate love interest. Amy Wolfe, a church organist from Pennsylvania has been in love with the amusement park ride known as 1001 Nachts  in Knoebels Amusement Park since she was 13-years-old. She proved her dedication to the ride by making 3,000 trips over the course of ten years, then popping the question in 2009. The shotgun wedding went smoothly and Amy changed her surname to Weber, after the ride’s manufacturer. She also carries some spare bolts and nuts with her and sleeps with a picture of her partner nearby. 4. Affair with English Oak Tree Over the course of several years, a 64-year-old Canadian woman named Val Theroux made yearly trips to England where she hosted reiki workshops. Little did anyone know that Val had a secret affair with a being who wasn’t even human. No, it wasn’t Big Ben or the London Eye, but rather a random oak tree in New Forest, Hampshire. A retired nurse, Val makes sure to visit every morning, so she could have some alone time with the oak tree which she embraces in the form of hugs. 5. Love a Huggable Pillow Huggable pillows are specifically designed for comfort, especially for lonely individuals who don’t get much human contact. But it seems that Lee Jin-gyu got a little too attached to his pillow which bore the image of Fate Testarossa, a magical girl character in the popular anime series, Mahou Shoujo. Lee’s friends even stated that he is obsessed with the pillow and brings it along everywhere he goes. So it must have been no surprise to them when Lee and Fate tied the knot in 2010 in the presence of a local priest.
