Unbelievable Consequences Caused by Crazy Super Fans

Crazy and obsessed superfans have always been around but with social media, it’s like there’s just no escaping them. Now they can all congregate together and feed into each others’ biases, even to the point of what normal people would consider to be insanity. But for them it’s a perfectly sane and rational reaction to whatever perceived disrespect. All this and more will be addressed in this list of unbelievable consequences caused by crazy superfans.\r \r 1. Rick and Morty Fans Protested for Szechuan Sauce\r \r In 2017, Rick and Morty made numerous references to McDonald's one-time special called Szechuan sauce which was used as promo for Mulan’s 1998 release. At the time, most fans didn’t even know of the sauce or had completely forgotten about it. With this newfound attention, McDonald’s decided to re-release the sauce, but only for one day. Well, they certainly underestimated how many people would show up and soon fans were tearing up stores, even jumping counters, all because McDonald’s ran out of that precious Szechuan sauce.\r \r 2. Harry Potter Fans Bought Owls Then Abandoned Them\r \r The Harry Potter fandom is generally on the tamer side compared to others, but even they have their outrageous moments, like wealthy kids convincing their parents to buy owls as pets. J.K. Rowling was fully against the idea, stating owls require a lot of space and upkeep. They bought them anyway and once reality sunk in, the poor birds were quickly abandoned in the wild. One owl sanctuary in the UK even mentioned that she went from taking care of five to six owls per year to over 100 of them in that same period.\r \r 3. Unbearable Screaming Made The Beatles Quit Touring\r \r At one point, The Beatles were the biggest group act in the world who performed to a stadium of screaming fans. Eventually, this constant heckling became way too much for them as they couldn’t hear themselves over the roaring crowd, and their drummer, Ringo Starr, had difficulty picking up on his bandmates’ cues. So in 1966, they pulled the plug on touring, forever. Other factors that contributed to this decision was exhaustion, concern over their  safety and wellbeing due to touchy fans running on stage and grabbing them.\r \r 4. Game Of Thrones Fans Abandoned Huskies\r \r Like with Harry Potter fans, the Game of Thrones fandom got a bit ahead of themselves when they decided to adopt huskies en masse because they reminded them of the intelligent and protective direwolves. Like owls, huskies require a lot of space and attention and when fans couldn’t fulfill those needs, they simply deserted the poor dogs. And as expected, the number of abandoned huskies doubled in only a couple years, and campaigns had to be put in place so people would stop adopting them on a whim.\r \r 5. One Direction Fans Start a Small Riot\r \r Before they broke up, One Direction was all the rage, and their fans were over the moon when the band released their documentary feature film, This Is Us. Tickets were limited, and a lottery was held to give everyone a fair chance at getting one. However, the company in charge of the lottery accidentally gave away hundreds more tickets than actual seats in the theater and come premiere night, chaos ensued. After the first 100 people were let in, the others started protesting then stormed the theater where they started a small riot. Though the crowd was quickly taken care of once the police showed up.
