Celebrities are as popular in their living as in their passing. A celebrity’s departure from this life often inspires conspiracy theories as they allow people to find evidence, coincidences and someone to blame in order to make sense of the chaos. Family, fans and acquaintances just aren’t ready to face the reality. There is widespread speculation which many people quickly buy into. Some are logical but others are just outright weird. Here are five strange conspiracy theories regarding the passing of celebrities. \r \r 1. Princess Diana\r \r On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana and her companion Dodi Fayed were involved in a tragic vehicular accident. Since then, there have been numerous conspiracy theories surrounding her passing. There were fourteen CCTV cameras in the tunnel where the accident occurred but none of them captured footage of the accident which caused speculation of a high-level cover-up. Some believe that the accident was a result of a plot involving the British security service and Prince Philip who did not approve of Diana’s involvement with Dodi. Others claim that she was constantly hounded by the paparazzi, who chased her vehicle and caused the accident.\r \r 2. Bob Marley\r \r Bob Marley, a reggae sensation, passed away in 1981 at the young age of thirty-six. He left behind a legacy that is far-reaching today as well as music that continues to empower and inspire others. In 1977, he was diagnosed with skin cancer which spread from under a toenail. There have been conspiracies regarding this, with some skeptics claiming that because of Marley’s political influence, son of the lead CIA Director William Colby gave Marley a pair of boots which contained a radioactive copper wire inside which wounded his toe and set off his cancer.\r \r 3. Kurt Cobain\r \r Kurt Cobain was the lead guitarist and vocalist for the American rock band, Nirvana. He passed away on April 5, 1994 through his own efforts. A note written by him was found in the room explaining his actions. Rumors of conspiracies started to circulate, with many of them implicating his wife Courtney Love. It was said that the writing on the note he allegedly wrote was inconsistent, there were no fingerprints at the site and a private investigator confessed that he was hired by the wife to carry out the act. Many people believe that some things in this case just did not add up.\r \r 4. Jimi Hendrix\r \r Jimi Hendrix was a popular American singer, songwriter and guitarist known for his contributions to several music genres. His music career lasted only four years before his passing in 1970. It is alleged by many conspiracy theorists that Hendrix met his demise at the hands of his manager over issues regarding money. Others believe that Hendrix faked his own death not to go into hiding but to transform himself into the renowned actor, Morgan Freeman. While some admit that there is a resemblance they also argue that this theory is far-fetched.\r \r 5. John Lennon\r \r Rock and roll sensation John Lennon was fatally wounded on December 8, 1980 by Mark David Chapman. Chapman waited on the police to arrest him after committing the crime. The conspiracy theories however suggest that the crime was actually the work of horror novelist extraordinaire, Stephen King, before he was famous. It is believed that Lennon’s anti-war stands made both Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan wish Lennon gone and they planned for King to do the unthinkable act. It is said that Stephen King went along with it to draw attention to himself.
