1. Michelina Lewandoska Survived Being Buried Alive Michelina Lewandoska, a Polish emigrant to the U.K., found herself in a nightmarish situation in 2012 when her fiancé, Marcin Kasprzak with the help of his friend, Patryk Borys attempted to end her life. After growing "bored" of Michelina, Kasprzak attacked her, bound her, and stuffed her into a cardboard box, then buried her in a shallow grave in the forest. Michelina used her engagement ring to free herself from the bonds and clawed her way out of the ground. After successfully making her escape, she had difficulty walking and breathing for weeks. Kasprzak and his accomplice were both sentenced to 20 years in prison.
2. Alcides Moreno Survived a 47-Story Fall From Apartment Building Alcides Moreno and his brother Edgar worked as window washers on Manhattan high-rise buildings for a living. In December 2007, their worst nightmare came true when the rig they were working on disengaged, and they plummeted 47 stories, into an alleyway. Edgar did not make it, but astonishingly, Alcides was alive, conscious, and sitting up. Some believed that Alcides was able to "ride" the platform, using it to slow his descent. Despite extensive injuries to his spine, brain, and limbs, Alcides made an astonishing recovery and appeared on morning talk shows just a few months later.
3. Ken Henderson Survived Being Stranded at Sea After Boat Sank Longtime friends Ken Henderson and Ed Coen went on a fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico in 2012 when their boat began to sink. Despite their efforts to pump out the water and call for help, they were stranded at sea for over 30 hours. They fought fatigue, dehydration, and the cold, by huddling together to conserve body heat and keeping each other distracted with conversation. When Coen began to struggle, Henderson made a daring solo swim toward a distant oil rig for help. When he made it to the rig, he alerted the Coast Guard. Sadly when they went to retrieve, Coen, he passed away.
4. Richard Moyer Survived a Black Bear Attack in His Home On October 3rd, 2011, Richard Moyer's morning started like any other day. He let out his dog who ran off into the woods near their home. But as he turned to go back inside, Brindy returned with a gigantic black bear chasing her. This bear had it out for Brindy and anyone associated with her. The bear forcefully broke down the door and attacked Richard and his wife Angela. Remarkably, both Richard and Angela were released from the hospital and made a full recovery.
5. Bahia Bakari Survived a Plane Crash Into the Indian Ocean On June 30, 2009, Yemenia Flight 626, crashed into the Indian Ocean around 2 a.m. 14-year-old Bahia Bakari was ejected from the plane and despite not being a strong swimmer and not having a life jacket, she managed to stay afloat by clinging to a piece of plane debris. As the sun rose, Bahia realized she was alone. Nine hours after the crash, she was spotted by a civilian vessel Bahia was the only one found from the search effort. Bahia, who lost her mother in the crash, suffered a fractured pelvis and broken collarbone, but she was the only survivor of the 152 people on board.
