It can be a very tricky thing to keep a home intact. For rental homes and apartments, it is quite difficult to maintain as they are rented repeatedly by different tenants. While some tenants may be careful and particular, others are negligent and their actions result in damage to the property. Tenants who are responsible for damage are inclined to hide them as they don’t want to lose their deposits. Here are the confessions of Reddit users on five amazing but weird fixes that have been used to hide damages from landlords.\r \r 1. Hide a Hole in the Wall\r \r A hole in a wall can sometimes be a difficult thing to hide. A former Redditor shared a peculiar and wholly tubular solution to the issue. Water seeped through his wall, and it collapsed inward. It left behind a huge hole that was bordered by rough plaster and mesh, and paint was peeling away below the hole. He transformed that space to a makeshift diorama shelf and placed four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures in there. Their expressive poses gave the impression that they were personally breaking through the wall, turning the destruction into decoration.\r \r 2. Hide the Socket\r \r A Reddit user posted photos to demonstrate how a previous tenant tried to hide outlet damage. The previous tenants attempted to fix an outlet that had entirely fallen out of the wall in their apartment. They were successful; however, a gaping hole in the wall resulted from installing the new outlet upside down and halfway off the socket. To make matters worse, they used packing tape to seal off the opening and the area around it. This was definitely a botched DIY repair.\r \r 3. Black Out\r \r The tenant was about to vacate, and his lease included a provision requiring him to repaint the property on the day of his departure. He repainted the apartment in some lovely colors the day before the moving truck came. The landlord wasn’t having it. The landlord felt that the movers would scuff the paint and for that reason demanded that the tenant paint on the day he was leaving. Well the soon to be ex-tenant had the perfect solution. The day the tenant moved out, he repainted the house for a second time. This time he used black paint. This was sure to hide all the scuffs. \r \r 4. Tighten Your Belt\r \r Apartments sometimes come furnished and renters have to be careful that they don’t damage the furniture. In this case, the seat of a chair was broken and this accidental damage had to be concealed. A creative DIYer had the brilliant idea to weave a brand-new seat cushion from old belts. This individual was able to create a new cushion that was soft, flexible, and robust while also looking excellent by crisscrossing the seat belts over the empty seat frame and then fastening the belts together. While impressive, this wasn’t enough to fool the owner.\r \r 5. A Work of Art\r \r Children can sometimes make life difficult for their families. They have a bad habit of drawing messy crayon murals on every wall they can reach with their short arms. Well, one Reddit user shared that to get around it, tenants should embrace it and see the drawing as art. Their child had drawn a messy, wavering line with a blue crayon over one area of the wall. The artistic mother subsequently rectified this by adding leaves and paisley. She transformed the unwanted markings into beautiful décor.
